Moluccan Cockatoo for Sale

Beautiful Moluccan Cockatoo for Sale, moluccan Cockatoos are a full sized cockatoo with pinkish colored feathers on the underside of the crest on the top of their head. Some are pinkish all over while other remain white. They can learn to talk, as can most cockatoos and are easy to teach all kinds of tricks. Because of their loving quailties and intelligence, Cockatoos have a very high need for attention, affection, and interaction. A single cockatoo will thrive as your pet only if you devote time and attention to it. You will need to spend a good deal of time playing with it and sharing affections on a regular daily basis.

However, two pet cockatoos can be ideal if you are not able to devote so much time and attention as the bird will demand. Bored cockatoos are notorious for developing bad habits such as screeching and feather plucking. Having two will help to prevent bad habits from developing by a bored bird.

Care and feeding of Moluccan Cockatoo

A roomy cage is required unless the bird is to be let out for extended periods. Many birds can spend most of their time on a play pen or parrot perch.

Moluccan Cockatoos eat a variety of seeds, nuts, fruits, and commercial pellets, as well as the same nutritional foods humans eat.

Bird Food:
Some examples of supplements are apples, pears, plums, raisons, oranges, bananas, peaches, carrots, broccoli, lettuce, chickweed, dandelions, and lots more! Do not feed avocado as it is toxic to birds!
Stay away from highly seasoned, fatty processed meats.
Vitamins and minerals should not be necessary with a good varied diet except in times of change or stress. If your cockatoo has a tendency to destroy calcium blocks, as an alternative, calcium can be sprinkled on their food about once a week.

Bird Baths:
Most cockatoos do not require washing any more than a cat would. This is because they are naturally highly clean and preen themselves on a daily basis. They naturally produce a lot of dust, which helps keep their wings and skin healthy. A cockatoo’s personal hygiene, on the other hand, may involve a weekly shower or bath to get rid of accumulated feather dust. Bathing is essentially a personal preference for the bird, since in the natural, some cockatoos enjoy standing in the rain while others dive for cover.

Bird Grooming:
If cockatoos are not paired with another bird, they will require preening assistance from their owners. Scratch lightly along the direction of the feathers on the tops of the heads, around the neck, and in other spots where they can’t reach. This will help in the removal of the clear feather sheaths that can become scratchy and irritating on fresh feathers.

Cockatoo Maintenance

The basic cage care includes cleaning the water and food bowls on a daily basis, as well as wiping the feather dust off the bars and perches. Change the bottom trays and replace the filthy litter twice a week. Weekly, wash all of the perches and soiled toys, and once a month, clean the entire cage. An aviary and flight should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected twice a year, with any items that need to be replaced, such as old plates, toys, perches, and the sand on the floor, replaced.

Speech and Vocalizations

The Moluccan Cockatoo for sale, they are not the best talking parrot. They can mimic some sounds, though many owners say that it’s more like yelling than talking. These birds are also screechers and will scream for attention when unhappy or no apparent reason. They are noisy, so they are not ideal for anyone with close neighbors.

Personality and Behavior

Moluccans would want to be attached to your body 24 hours a day. They seek attention and love and, as a result, can become pests. They are not good at “playing alone” and will continuously compete for your attention. If you can provide your full attention, you will have a happy bird. They are ideal for a shut-in or someone who spends most of the day at home. They only want to be hugged and cuddled all of the time.

Moluccan Cockatoo Size

The largest of the white cockatoos, the Moluccan cockatoo can measure up to 20.8 inches (52 cm) in length, and can weigh up to 35 ounces (1000 g). Females are usually larger than males.

Exercise

The Moluccan cockatoo is a very busy bird. They require a lot of activity to stay mentally and physically healthy. Allow your bird to exercise and play. Allow it three to four hours per day outside the cage. It does not have to be done in a single long stretch.

Designate a safe, enclosed space for your bird’s out-of-cage time, where it will not damage itself or escape from the house. You can also play on its foraging instinct by hiding food. The challenge will be enjoyable for the bird.

Moluccan Cockatoo Colors and Markings

This species is easy to recognize by the bright pink feathers that adorn the base of its crest. It’s barely noticeable when the feathers are flat, but when the bird is excited, afraid, or angry, the crest will raise and show off its true beauty. Among the cockatoo species, their crest is one of the fullest, only rivaled by the umbrella cockatoo.
Besides the pop of color on their heads, Moluccan cockatoos are primarily white with salmon-colored feathers on their chests and wings. They have a beautiful pale yellow to peach color underneath their wings.
