Rainbow Lorikeet for sale

Rainbow Lorikeet for sale,Lories and lorikeets are very playful birds. They love to play with people, toys, and whatever else they can get their “beaks” onto! Lorikeets like to be very active and love to perform lots of antics, from just showing off in general to swinging upside down on bars, perches and swings.

The Green naped Rainbow Lorikeet is one of the most colorful members of the parrot family. It is almost impossible to tell the difference between a lorikeet and a lory although some say the Lorrie has a longer tail than the lori. Also, the lorikeet has a pointed tail while the lori’s tail is rounded. The lorikeets and the lorys have a “brushlike” tongue that is used for eating fruits, flowers, nectars, and pollens.

Like a young puppy, this bird encourages play whenever its favorite person is present. This bird is not shy and will alert you when it requires your attention. If you’re looking for a laid-back bird, this might not be the one.

Care and feeding of a Rainbow Lorikeet

Birds need good nutrition, a diet that is designed for them and has the necessary components for a balance diet. A healthy diet for most types of birds can include a wide variety of grains, bird seed, fruits and green vegetables. Use additional supplements to add minerals and proteins to their diet. Also provide plenty of daily water.

There are many types of food available for all the different types of pet birds. Most packaged bird food will specify the type of bird it was designed for, and have the necessary components for a balance diet. They are usually sold in small packages from 1 to 5 pounds, and some are available in large quantities of 25 or 50 pound bags.

These birds require a large aviary or flight cage. A cage should be at least 4 feet long, 2 feet broad, and 3 feet tall. The cage should be made of strong metal—avoid wooden cages, which can be ripped apart by their beaks.

The lorikeet’s main diet consists of nectar and fruit. They can eat some greens and some seed. Special diets which can be purchased at most pet stores have been formulated to feed the bird in either a wet form as a nectar or in a dry form as a powder. Make sure you have water near the powder, if that is what you are feeding, so the bird can take drinks while eating. Fresh fruit or unsweetened canned fruit should be fed regularly.

Temperament of Rainbow Lorikeet

Rainbow lorikeets are sweet, lovely, affectionate birds that are known for their comical antics and friendly personalities. In general, these birds are friendly, easy to socialize, and value interaction with their human keepers.

Hand-feed these young birds during their training. They will become acclimated to human touch and may be less nippy.

This bird is a highly intelligent bird that can learn tricks and other behaviors. Because it’s so smart, it is also a capable escape artist. Cage door locks are a must.

Most rainbows lories get along well with other bird species, but they can be very territorial and can become quite jealous. They can become vicious with birds of their species and should never be left unsupervised with other birds.

Rainbow Lorikeets Behaviour

The Rainbow Lorikeet feeds mostly on nectar and pollen from shrubs and trees’ flowers, but sometimes consumes fruits, seeds, and insects.

The Rainbow Lorikeet lays its eggs on chewed, rotting wood, commonly in a hollow eucalyptus limb. Only the female incubates the eggs, whereas both sexes prepare the nest cavity and feed the young.

Speech and Vocalizations

Rainbow lorikeets are excellent talkers, and they can learn to say many words and phrases. They are noisy birds and have a high-pitched tone with frequent squawks. Their sometimes shrill vocaizations can be abrasive and unpleasant to some people. This bird is not the ideal pet for people who have close neighbors who are sensitive to loud sounds.

Lorikeet Colors and Markings

They are one of the most colorful species kept as companion birds. They have a slender build similar to Asiatic parakeets, such as the Indian ringneck parakeet or Alexandrine parakeet.

Rainbow lorikeets certainly live up to their name—their faces and bellies sport a deep blue plumage with green feathers on their wings, backs, and heads. They have bright red breasts with highlights of yellow and orange on the sides.
